Dorothy E. Boyd
Dorothy E. Boyd, 103, of Greenville. Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July
11, 2017 at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.
She was born on January 11, 1914 in Warren County, Indiana to the late
Balinger Berlin and Grace Ethel (Gray) Turner. In addition to her
parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Wilson
Boyd; a son, Leonard W. Boyd; a great-great grandson; brothers, Richard
Wayne Turner and Russell Turner; sisters, Ruth Schaar, Alta Peters,
Alice Wentworth, Mildred Hocker, Virginia Gilmore, June Wentworth and
Anna Mary Taylor.
Dorothy was left a widow raising five children between the ages of
three and 13. She worked several jobs including house work, painting,
retail, restaurant. She did what she could to support her family and
was very proud of that. She was a member of Rossburg United Methodist
Church, was a Golden Eagle with the Greenville Eagles and VFW
Auxiliary. Dorothy loved writing and had written and published a volume
of poetry and her autobiography. She loved working in her yard and
gardens.
Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses, Marvin and
Connie Boyd of Greenville, Maxine Rhotehamel of Greenville, Phyllis and
Buford Bolin of Piqua and Norma and Jim Erwin of Ansonia; 15
grandchildren: 27 great grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren;
brothers and their spouses, Junior and Phyllis Turner of Ansonia and
Bob and Nadine Turner of Rossburg; a sister, Norma Rammel of
Greenville; sister-in-law, Janet Turner of Greenville; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, July 17,
2017 at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Mitch
Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit from 1PM to 4PM Sunday, July 16, 2017 at
the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Rossburg
United Methodist Church, 117 Ross St, Rossburg, OH 45362.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to State of the Heart
Hospice and to the staff of the Village Green for all the kindness and
loving care they showed Dorothy.
