Roger Pohl
Roger Pohl, 85, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, July
14, 2017.
He was born May 1, 1932.
Roger married Arlene McEldowney on July 25, 1956, at the St. Denis
Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Pauline (Rammel) Pohl
and son, Kevin Pohl.
Roger is survived by children: Steven Pohl (Troy, OH), Lisa Grossman
(Marysville, OH), John (Lisa) Pohl (Winchester, KY), and Thomas
(Sharon) Pohl Florence, SC).
Grandchildren: Kris (Erica) Grossman, Kyle Grossman, Mariah Pohl, Ryan
Pohl and Julia Pohl.
Great- Grandchild: Ava Grossman.
Brothers and sisters: Lavern (Rita) Pohl, Eileen (Robert) Stelzer, Carl
(Mary Ann) Pohl, Leroy (Alberta) Pohl, Dennis Pohl, Larry (Jessie)
Pohl, and Nancy (Jerome) Meyer.
Roger graduated from St. Henry High School, St. Henry, Ohio, and was a
veteran of the U.S. Army, with active service in the Korean War from
1952-1954.
Roger was a member of the St. Denis Church, a member of the Knights of
Columbus-Council 1756, and a member of the American Legion Post #0435.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July
18, 2017 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim
Duell celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in
Versailles with Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s
Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to
8:00 P.M. and Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Bailey Zechar
Funeral Home in Versailles. The Knights of Columbus will have a rosary
prayer service at 7:45 PM on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
