Bernadette E. Shawler
Bernadette E. Shawler, age 94, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on
Monday, November 27, 2017 at 9:35 AM at Upper Valley Medical Center,
Troy, Ohio. She was born on August 18, 1923 in Darke County,
Ohio, to the late Urban & Mary (Poly) Berger.
She is survived by her sisters, Mona Lou Blakeley and Adela Hoke both
of Versailles; sister in law, Elsie Berger of Versailles; as well as
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband,
Harold “Bob” Shawler; infant brother, Jerome Berger; brothers, Donald
Berger and Romaine Berger; and sister, Drucilla McNeal.
Bernadette worked at Enpo Pump Company in Piqua, Ohio, for 38
years. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church. She
was a 1941 graduate of Versailles High School and was an avid
Cincinnati Reds fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017
at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev.
Fr. Jim Simons celebrant and Rev. Fr. Jim Duell concelebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio.
Family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5-7 PM as
well as on Saturday from 9-10 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home,
Versailles, Ohio.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to
Hospice of Miami County.
