Clyde Benjamin “Ben” Barker

Clyde Benjamin “Ben” Barker, 79, of Greenville, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born May 11, 1938 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, the son of the late Ronald and Virginia (Tufford) Barker.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebekah Barker; his brothers, Ronald Barker, Jr., Robert Barker, and Raymond Barker; his sisters, Phyllis Shearer and Sandy Gallis.

Ben proudly served our country in the U.S Army. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant with a specialty in artillery defense. He was the owner of B & B Painting, was a member of the VFW in Greenville and the Salvation Army of Coshocton, Ohio. Ben was a volunteer firefighter for the villages of Phillipsburg, Verona, and Gettysburg Rural Fire Department. He was also an EMT for Gettysburg Rescue, and was one of the contributing members in starting the Rescue Squad. Most importantly he was a devoted husband, dad, brother, papaw, and great papaw.

Ben is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Primrose-Barker of Greenville, whom he married March 25, 1965; his daughter and son-in-law, April (Darrell) Fetters of Greenville; his grandchildren, Chelsea (Steven) Fields of Gettysburg, Mick (Chelsea) Denlinger of New Lebanon, Caleb Fetters of Greenville, Marcus (Sana) Denlinger of Gettysburg, and Mason Fetters of Greenville; his great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Hunter Denlinger, Levi and Gavin Fields and Savannah and Landen Denlinger; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Sue) Barker, Ralph (Patty) Barker, Jerry (Jolene) Barker, and Bill Barker all of Coshocton; his sisters and brother-in-law, Barb Cooper of Coshocton, and Marilyn (Tony) Bender of Zanesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may visit on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the funeral home in Greenville with Rev. Fred Bernhard officiating. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery.
