James “Jim” Leis

James “Jim” Leis, 77, of Rossburg, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.

He was born September 26,1939 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Ernest and Anna Gertrude (Campbell) Leis.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Darrrel Rowland.

Jim was born and raised a farmer. He milked cows and had cattle, and other livestock; he planted corn, soy beans, wheat and hay. He was a member of Rossburg United Methodist Church. As a young man, Jim and his friends would modify their tractors and compete in tractor pulls. Jim was a kind and generous man. He has helped a lot of people and would never ask for anything in return. The only thing that Jim wasn't a fan of, was groundhogs. He had life-long war on any groundhog that was unlucky enough to step foot on his property. Jim loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband and caring father. He has left many lasting and fond memories.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet (Hartzell) Leis of Rossburg, whom he married on January 11, 1958; his daughters and sons-in-law; Aliana and Bryan Clymer of Greenville and Cindy and Steve Shoop of Greenville; his grandchildren and spouses, Holly and Chad Garrison of New Albany, Ohio and Brianne and Craig Galloway of Columbus, Ohio; his great granddaughters, Stella and Scarlett Garrison; his great grandson, Bodhi Galloway; and his sister and brother-in-law, Janet (Rowland) and Gail Long of New Paris, Ohio.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 7PM Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home, with Pastor Mitch Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
