Janet Mae Bey
Janet Mae Bey, 74, of Versailles, passed away Sunday September 3, 2017
at her home.
Janet was born on April 3, 1943 in Darke County, Ohio, a daughter of
the late Allen and Luella (Sanders) Mendenhall.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband,
John Bey, whom she married February 11, 1961; her daughter, Patricia
Schoen; and six brothers and sisters, Gary, Johnny, Kathy, Larry and
Duane Mendenhall, and Carolyn Minnich.
Janet worked at Weaver Bros. in Versailles for over 23 years. She
enjoyed garage sales, crossword and Jigsaw puzzles, and collecting
candles, chicken figurines and commemorative quarters. She was friendly
and outgoing. Coffee was her favorite hobby and good conversation with
a cup of coffee was a good day. Janet has touched many hearts and has
left many memories.
Janet is survived by her children and their spouses, Terry Bey of
Greenville, Karen and Larry Smith of Greenville, and John and Sandra
Bey of Versailles; eight grandchildren, Janelle Smith, Amanda Smith,
Billy and his wife Amber Bey, Tiffany Bey, Eric Norman, Amber Schoen,
Heather Bey, and Ashley Bey; two step grandchildren, Michael Whittaker
and Stephanie Shimp; and 11 great grandchildren. Janet also leaves
behind her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Donnie Dowell; and
countless nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 at
10:30 AM at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Peter
Menke officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in
Versailles.
Family and friends may visit Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5:00 PM
to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
