Nita June Watern
On September 26, 2017, Nita June Watern of New Madison, Ohio, age 73,
succumbed to a long battle with cancer and went to be with our dear
Lord, to join those in Heaven she treasured in life.
Nita was a giving person and her passions include quilting, crocheting,
and cooking. All of which she gave as gifts from her heart.
Nita was an extremely wonderful and devoted daughter, sister, wife,
mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She will be deeply
missed by all that knew her. Nita was a member of the Harrison Street
Baptist Church in New Madison, Ohio. She was very blessed to have such
an incredible Pastor and church family, with whom she loved with all of
her heart.
Nita was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Fred E. Watern.
Fred and Nita had two sons, Steven E. and his wife, Sandra L. Watern of
New Paris, Ohio, and Joseph B. and his wife, Nina M. Watern of
Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Nita was the daughter of the late Elberta F. Grubb, formerly of Dayton,
Ohio. She had seven siblings, Jerry N. Walker, Larry H. Walker, and
Ronald E. Walker, who are all deceased, and Mark R. Baller, Sandra R.
Nelson, and Freda S. O’Bryan, who all still survive.
Nita had thirteen grandchildren, John T. Vetter, Shaun E. Vanover,
Gabriel P. Watern, Rachel L. Watern, Tabitha R. Watern, Timothy S.
Watern and Daniel A.Watern. These are the children of Steven and Sandra
Watern. Madelynne R. Watern, Katherynne N. Watern, Peyton E. Watern,
Carson J. Watern, LillyanneM. Watern, and Hayden A. Watern. These are
the children of Joseph and Nina Watern.
Nita also leaves behind six great grandchildren, three great aunts, a
great uncle, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. All of whom will
forever remember how wonderful and giving of a person Nita was and will
forever miss her.
Nita and her family would like to sincerely thank the State of the
Heart Care staff, especially her immediate nurses and aids, with whom
she grew to love.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday,
September 30, 2017 at Harrison Street Baptist Church, 140 S. Harrison
Street, New Madison with Pastor Kyle Herrmann officiating. Burial will
follow in Greenmond Cemetery.
Family and friends my visit from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM also at the church.
