Phillip J. Trask
TRASK, Phillip J. Age 86, of New Madison, OH passed away peacefully
Friday, April 27, 2018 at Village Green Health Care surrounded by loved
ones.
Phillip was born in Wilton, Maine on December 2, 1931 to Harold and
Bertha (Littlefield) Trask. He married Ursula Norma (Bourgeois) Trask
on July 1, 1953 in Stephenville, Newfoundland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Hazel
Melcher.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Michael Trask
of New Madison, OH, Jo Ann (Jeff) Stephens of Greenville, OH, Mark
(Peggy) Trask of New Madison, OH, Janet Trask of Greenville, OH and
Alan (Sanya) Trask of Warrenton, VA. Grandchildren, Michael, Kelly,
Ian, Andrei, Aaron, Adam, Jacob, Eliza, and Iris. Great Grandchildren,
Finn, Nora Rose, Kaedence, Ashton, Mason and Lennon. Brother Donald
Trask of Farmington, ME.
After graduating from Wilton Academy in Wilton, Maine in 1950, Phillip
enlisted in the United States Air Force (1950-1954) and was stationed
with the 52nd Air Rescue Squadron in Stephenville, Newfoundland. After
being honorably discharged he worked for The Standard Register Co.,
McCalls, and retired from the Dayton Daily News in 1986. Phillip was a
hardworking and caring husband, father, grandfather and great
grandfather. He never met a stranger, was always willing to lend a hand
to those in need, was an avid gardener, woodworker, bowler, cribbage
and euchre player, enjoyed a lifelong passion for the outdoors and
perhaps was just as well known for his interesting sense of humor. He
was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, OH and
American Legion Post 245 in New Madison, OH.
The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff
and caregivers at Village Green Health Care and State of the Heart
Hospice in Greenville, OH. Visitation will be held at ZECHAR-BAILEY
FUNERAL HOME 1499 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH on Friday, May 4,
2018 in Greenville, OH from 5 pm – 7pm. A funeral mass will be held at
St. Mary’s Catholic Church at a later date and a private family only
service will take place at Otterbein Cemetery. Memorial contributions
or donations may be made to the ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION at alz.org.
