Josef Rudolf Suter
Josef Rudolf Suter, age 77 of Greenville, Ohio passed away Monday
December 3, 2018. He was born in Greenville, Ohio on January 14,
1941.
He is survived by his brothers David (Chloe) Suter and John (Mary)
Suter all of Greenville, Ohio. Also one niece, five nephews and
fifteen great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary F. (Thompson) and father
John R. Suter who operated Suter’s Meat Market of Greenville as well as
a nephew.
He graduated from Wittenberg University with a BS in Education in 1963,
a Master in Arts from Arizona State University in 1971 and earned a
degree in Nurse Anesthesiology from Pace University.
He was an amazing man with three distinct careers: teacher, incentive
travel director and nurse anesthetist. He taught at Oakwood High
School from July 1965 until 1970, then returned for a year from
1971-1972. He was also an instructor in the Embassies located in
Afghanistan and Peru. Years later he received the Sam
Andrews Education Hall of Honor Award at the Dayton Country Club.
Then he joined E.F. McDonald Travel Division where he was an incentive
travel director, traveling all over the world with various corporations
and their employees. After that he attended Pace University in
New York to become a nurse anesthetist; settling in New Orleans, where
he worked in various hospitals, finally teaching anesthesiology in a
community college there. At the same time he was a Life Master
Bridge player, competing in countless tournaments. He retired to
the Brethren Retirement Community Cottages in Greenville. In
addition to his significant careers, he was an expert on Richard
Wagner’s Ring Cycle (traveling all over the world to see productions of
four operas) and Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.
He will be dearly missed by many of his family and friends.
