State Senators
Announce Recall Legislation
By Bob Rhoades
Two Democratic senators one from Cleveland and the other from
Youngstown have introduced legislation that would allow recall of,
among others, State Legislators and the Governor according to
ProgressOhio.org. This comes on the heels of the passage of
Senate Bill 5 which the governor says will give local politicians tools
to help govern. The two congressmen say that this is just another
tool and of course since it’s a Democratic idea, it’s no guessing game
who the target is.
They say that they have had numerous town meetings and people
overwhelmingly agreed that we need this bill. There is no mention of
what the attendance at these meetings was and Rep. Hagan said although
it wasn’t partisan in its development, he wouldn’t dance around the
fact that it was about what Republicans have done during one party
rules. Apparently the Democrats have always been good guys when
they were in charge.
Well folks, it’s probably not about Democrats or Republicans. It’s
probably about something that they obviously haven’t thought
about. It might be about who, on God’s green earth, would ever
run for public office again if this thing passes. We don’t have
any money now; think of how much less we will have after running all of
the special elections to get rid of the people we voted in at the last
election. Holy Moses!
Here’s the deal guys, this is how it works. You may remember this
as you just went through it not too long ago. A couple of people
decide to run for office, they declare their intentions, get petitions
signed, do a lot of campaigning, promise people a lot of stuff that
they have no idea if they can deliver on and then wait for election
day. Whoever has fooled enough of the people gets elected and the
January after the election the elected person gets to go to work.
If by chance the electorate has chosen a moron, we get to kick
ourselves in the backside for a couple of years so we don’t make stupid
mistakes in the voting booth again. This bill would eliminate our
grieving period altogether.
Passage of this bill could mean that the state will go bankrupt
changing names on the tally board in the House and Senate as well as
printing new stationary. It’s probably a good idea to leave well
enough alone guys, remember it would affect you too.
