Are we stupid or what?
That’s My Opinion… a meaningless rant
By Bob Robinson
The Rasmussen Report on Tuesday showed President Obama’s approval
rating at a –17. This means that 24 percent of the public strongly
approved of Obama’s performance in office while 41 percent strongly
disapproved.
Could that have to do with the latest release of the unemployment
numbers? Only 120,000 jobs were created in March. Most economists
believe that in order for our economy to grow, at least 200,000 jobs
must be created.
So why is the unemployment rate only at 8.2 percent (I say ‘only’ with
a rueful grin)? According to Townhall columnist Bob Beauprez, it is
because workers are leaving the job market. About 164,000 people
stopped looking for a job. Another 169,000 are of eligible age to work
but aren’t. That’s a total 333,000 decline in the Labor Force. Those
numbers are not part of the unemployment tally.
And let’s not forget the “under” employed. Two or three part-time jobs
to make ends meet, no benefits… you get the drift. I know several
people caught in that cycle.
Can anyone say from 18 to 25 percent unemployed/underemployed? Of
course the mainstream media doesn’t talk about that.
Gas prices have been playing around with the $4.00 mark. Dayton has
already seen that magic number. Some have predicted $5 a gallon
sometime this summer due to higher demand. That’s in dispute, but even
at $4 plus, we are seeing the “hit” in all of the goods we buy. Food
prices are increasing, as well as other consumer items. The cost of
some services, like local trash pickup, is already increasing due to
the growing fuel surcharges that have been added.
Then there’s King Obama’s challenge to the Highest Court in the Land,
and in tandem of course, the Constitution which established the Checks
& Balances of our system of government.
He has already named more Czars than we’ve seen from any president in
history. These are unelected bureaucrats who have as much (or more)
power over our lives than our elected representatives in Washington.
Can we vote them out of office? Of course not. They are anointed by the
King himself.
And he complains that our justices are unelected?
Obama has publicly chastised the Supreme Court for even considering
overturning Obamacare. Frankly, this panel of nine judges is the only
thing standing between us and an unbridled, runaway federal government.
Obama has consistently acted on the premise that our Constitution is
not worth the paper it was written on, and challenged our court system
on more than one occasion.
Evidently, from his perspective, if it is something he and his henchmen
want to do, it must be good for the country… like adding more debt to
the federal government than another other president in history.
Another first.
That’s only the tip of the iceberg. Want more? Try the EPA’s mandates
against creating dust, the ravenous appetite of Obama’s Green Energy
and his stifling of oil exploration, or the FDA’s power grab over
cigarette packaging! There is a wealth of information on CNO’s Blogs
tab or hundreds of other legitimate (but conservative) sites on the
web. Don’t worry about the mainstream media. It isn’t likely you’ll
find much there. Maybe a tidbit or two, but nothing indepth.
Obama said four years ago that if he couldn’t get the economy back on
track, he didn’t deserve another four years. Instead, he derailed it
even more… yet he still wants another shot at it.
These and other examples of our current president’s ineptitude have
been evident for a long time. So why have I chosen now to release my
frustration in a meaningless rant?
Most polls show Obama with a slight lead on his closest challenger,
Mitt Romney, in a face-to-face election. Rasmussen on Tuesday showed a
dead heat.
I can’t imagine him leading (or tied with) Mickey Mouse much less a
legitimate challenger from any party. Doing nothing at all would be a
helluva lot better than the damage President Barack Hussein Obama has
done… and can still do if we are dumb enough to keep him in the Oval
Office another four years. Yet the polls still say that could happen.
Are we stupid or what?
That’s my opinion. What’s yours?
