Representative Jim Buchy
Let’s
Celebrate at the County Fair
Late summer
is one of my favorite times of the year because it’s when we get to
celebrate
the accomplishments of our local farmers and the agricultural community
at our county
fairs. The counties in West Central Ohio will each be holding their
county
fairs over the coming weeks, and I’m looking forward to attending them
all, as
each fair offers unique and exciting attractions.
During the
months of July and August, we recognize the achievements of the
agricultural
community through the county fairs by putting Ohio’s farmers in the
spotlight.
Agriculture is a vital part of Ohio’s economy, and west central Ohio
makes up a
huge portion of our state’s agricultural industry. Farmers not only
provide us
with the food we put on our tables, but also help power Ohio’s economy.
County
fairs are a way for us to celebrate the young people who will become
the next
generation of farmers. The students who compete in the various contests
at each
county fair are not only working to earn a blue ribbon—they’re learning
valuable skills that will help them in life and in their future
careers. I
couldn’t be more proud of these young people and the remarkable things
they
accomplish. Each year, I’m more impressed than the last.
Finally,
the county fairs are a time for us to come together as a community.
Every year
as I travel to the county fairgrounds, I always feel thankful that I
represent
such an incredible district in Ohio, filled with wonderful people and
families.
Our communities, with all their history and traditions, are what make
Ohio
great. The county fairs are a way for us to celebrate that greatness.
So be
sure to come out to your local county fair this year—I know I’ll be
there.
