Are we smarter
than I thought?
By The Darke Knight
Now isn’t that just too damn convenient! After a disasterous showing
against Romney Wednesday night, our president gets a break! Now he can
say he brought unemployment below 8%. Lets analyse that for a second (a
second is all we need). He FINALLY brought unemployment under 8%. It
only took him three and a half years. What really gets me is that 7.8%
is nothing to crow about… but he’s crowing!
The brown-nose media is crowing, too. “This could change the picture
for President Obama,” said one network commentator as he compared
Obama’s jobs picture to Reagan’s jobs picture when he was reelected in
1984. I think it’s comparing apples to oranges but I’m not a network
commentator. Conservative commentators were skeptical, as expected… I
couldn’t find any comments from liberal commentators. Why should they?
The media’s doing the crowing for them.
Does anyone remember the guidelines for “counting” the unemployed? They
have to be actively looking for a job. If they stopped looking, they
don’t count. If they’re working part time just to make ends meet, they
don’t count. Funny. No mention of either of those facts from the media.
Then there’s this ridiculous revision upwards from July and August?
86,000 more jobs than originally counted? These government “counters”
are supposed to be professionals – so I’ve been told – so how can they
be off by what… 50 percent or more? Come on guys… weather men are more
accurate than that, and their predicting, not counting. Maybe our
worthy public servants need to go back to school and learn some math.
Besides, I understand we need 300,000 jobs a month just to get us back
to where we started. And everyone is crowing about 114,000? How good
does that look to you if your holding down two part time jobs?
I felt sorry for Obama on Wednesday night. The poor guy didn’t have a
prompter to help him and he seemed as lost as a 10-year old who got
separated from Mommy and Daddy at Disneyworld. Romney tore him six ways
from Sunday and took him to task on the Medicare and tax hike lies that
have been blistering Ohio and other battleground states. The best our
president could come up with was to repeat the lies with a bunch of
“ums” and “aahs” thrown in for comic relief. This is the guy whose been
running our country for nearly four years. Think now you can understand
why the right-wing pundits have been accusing him of leading from
behind? You can’t use a monitor if your leading from the front!
Skip a week, then we get to find out why a second Sept. 11 terrorist
attack on the United States has elicited little more than a “ho-hum”
from this administration. The elite media doesn’t seem to care, but I
sure as hell do. Can you imagine the uproar if a Republican president
did nothing more than send in an FBI unit weeks after the attack? Can
you imagine the uproar that SHOULD be occurring from any attack on our
country? I think the term “leading from behind” is too generous. This
administration has told the whole world that they can do pretty much
what they please to us and all we’ll do is pontificate and ask them to
be nice.
Most polls now show Romney slightly ahead of Obama. All within the
margin of error. The Democrats and their loyal supporters, the
mainstream media, must be pulling their hair out right now. Reports say
the Democrats are planning to gear up for lies, lies and more lies,
over the next several weeks. What else can they do? They sure as hell
don’t have a record to run on!
Up next week I believe is Nutcase Biden vs Congressman Ryan. Oops!
Sorry… U.S. Vice President Joe Biden vs U.S. Congressman Paul Ryan. I’m
expecting that to be a hoot.
Final note. I’m feeling a little better about the ignorant masses
heading to the polls next month. Current polling suggests they might be
a little smarter than I first thought. God I hope so!
Have a nice day,
The Darke Knight
