Chairman Bob Bennett
Strickland
Should Apologize
COLUMBUS
- Today, in response to Ted
Strickland's attacks on Josh Mandel to the Ohio DNC delegation, Ohio
Republican
Party Chairman Bob Bennett said Ted Strickland is simply trying to
deflect
attention from his failure as Chairman of the DNC platform writing
committee.
"Last
time I checked it's the voters who
decide what candidate is fit for office. The voters of Ohio fired Ted
in 2010
and hired Josh Mandel. Ted's trying to distract us from his DNC debacle
in
which he showed the Democrat Party's true disdain for Israel. His
conduct is
not befitting that of a former governor of Ohio and he can now add Josh
Mandel
to the growing list of those to whom he owes an apology," said Bennett.
See
the following for "What they are
Saying" on Ted Strickland's failure as Chair of the platform writing
committee at the Democratic National Convention:
"Having
served in Congress and as a student
of scripture, Mr. Strickland should have recalled both politically and
biblically that God has an irrefutable place in American history and
future
affairs. Mr. Strickland's memory also failed to reflect a cornerstone
of
American foreign policy: Jerusalem belongs to Israel."
Clarence Mingo, Franklin County Auditor
"Former
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland got caught
in a hornet's nest Wednesday night at the Democratic National
Convention of
platform language mentioning God and naming Jerusalem as the rightful
capital
of Israel."
Columbus Dispatch.
"Democrats
presented the platform amendment
as a "clarification,'' but it took three voice votes in a half empty
arena
before the convention's chairman determined that it had passed. Mr.
Strickland
said he had expected Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to
recognize it as
accepted immediately."
Toledo
Blade
"This
is a very sad day. To hear delegates
on the floor of the Democratic convention strongly voice their
opposition to
recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, then boo when the
chairman
passes the resolution to adopt that language, is a shock."
Matt Brooks, Executive Director, Republican
Jewish Coalition
"At
the DNC, former Ohio Governor Ted
Strickland served as the platform drafting committee chair. To the
shame of all
believers in Ohio, he was responsible for the Democrat platform that
removed
all references to God..." Facebook.com/CatholicsForOhio
