Commentary
An
Amazing Night
By Sharon Hopper

I went to a
concert last night presented by the
Tabernacle Christian Center featuring Brad Lazadda. I happened to read
in the
paper that this man was going to do a concert and normally I do not
really pay
much attention to most of the gospel concerts at churches. But this one
got my
attention when the article said that he had sung in 28 countries, and
performed
in all 50 states. So I marked my calendar and told my husband we were
going to
this concert. He groaned as usual. But……………..
This man was
amazing. He
not only sang great, but he sang with enthusiasm, emotion perfect
intonation,
and he was funny. He was also a standup comic, and had opened for many
big name
performers. His one man show was fantastic. I know that because my
husband was
singing his praises all the way home. Problem………….
There were only
about 60 people there and that
was really sad because this community should be able to do better than
that. It
is amazing to me that the paper will donate lots of space to “Johnny
and his
track accomplishment,” and very little space to something of cultural
value. Now
Johnny deserves his space, but so do artists who spend their money and
time to
entertain and bring meaning into lives. I just hope that if Brad
Lazadda should
decide to revisit our community that he plays to a packed house and I
will
guarantee that all will be entertained and uplifted.
