Life with Levi...
A wedding and two Lambies
By Amanda Olson

Wow! What a weekend! For a number of reasons…

First off, I took Levi to my friend Nikki’s wedding. I was worried about it for weeks before, hoping that Aaron would have the day off to go with us.

But he didn’t. Bummer.

So I decided to go ahead and try to take him by myself. Not necessarily a bad thing… Unless you take into account the fact that the wedding happened to be during Levi’s nap time. But he took an extra long nap that morning, so I figured it would all be okay.

Not so.

Also, the wedding was outside, so I figured we could walk around or play on the playground nearby while the ceremony was going on.

But of course it would start raining just as the ceremony was about to begin, and continue to rain right up until the end.

So instead of enjoying the ceremony (which was beautiful, by the way), I was busy stuffing peanut butter crackers into a crabby baby who wanted nothing but to get up and run around. And play with the flower petals strewn about the aisle.

I have to give a big shout out to all of my friends who helped me keep Levi as busy as possible… Too many of you to list, but you know who you are ;)

We survived the ceremony without causing too much of a commotion (I hope!), and as we were in the receiving line afterwards, someone at nearby house began shooting off fireworks.

Uh-oh!

We tried fireworks on the 4th of July, and Levi wanted nothing to do with them. Cried until we took him inside as a matter of fact.

So when the fireworks started going off at the wedding, Levi’s face immediately crumpled and the waterworks began… And the wailing.

They soon ended and I thought, “Okay, smooth sailing from here.”

Um, think again, Mommy.

When we got inside for the reception, I was starting to feel relieved… But not for long since Levi didn’t want to be inside. He wanted to be outside.

I kept him occupied with pretzels and chips (with some more help from my friends), but finally I couldn’t take it any more. I broke down and took him outside.

Where it was starting to rain again… Back inside.

By this time, the wedding party was entering the building after their pictures, so everyone inside began clapping, as well as hooting and hollering. Once again, Levi’s face crumpled and the waterworks began again.

Needless to say, we left shortly after that. Not that I wanted to, but I didn’t want Levi to ruin anyone else’s good time.

So after what turned out to be a busy Saturday, we stayed home and chilled out on Sunday. The only thing we went out for was a short trip to Staples to buy Mommy a new computer mouse.

Levi picked out a blue one… And then named it Mickey Mouse.

Gotta love kids!

After that, we came home and Levi was helping Mommy with laundry. So was Lambie (#2).

(Side note: Lambie #2 came back after Lambie #1 had an unfortunate accident… Lambie #1 slept with Levi on a night when Levi had a lot of water before bed. So to be blunt, he got peed on.)

I make mention of the recent Lambie swap because after Lambie #1’s “accident”, Mommy decided to wash him. (Remember, he’s the lamb that had been washed despite the warning not to on the tag.) So Lambie #1 was resting in the window of the laundry room drying.

Mommy forgot about that, until…

“Mommy! Two whammies! Two whammies!”

Whoops… The cat’s out of the bag. Levi has two Lambies, and now he knows it!

Mommy quickly explained that the Lambie in the window was Levi’s Lambie’s cousin who came from the lamb farm for a visit.

So far, Levi is buying it… He hasn’t mentioned the other Lambie again. Let’s just hope that he doesn’t realize he’s being hoodwinked and get upset. So far, so good!

Mommy just hopes that Lambie #2 doesn’t have an accident while Lambie #1 is still drying… Keep your fingers crossed, Lambie fans!
