Life with Levi
Levi and his Party Wagon
By Amanda Olson

Even though it was a few weeks ago now, I still feel like Levi’s second birthday party is worth a mention.

In comparison to his first, it was laid back and simple. For his first birthday, I rented out the fellowship hall of the Ansonia United Methodist Church, made elaborate invitations, and Aunt Beej made a homemade 3D duck cake, just for him.

This time around, we had the party at our house, I bought the invitations and decorations from Wal-Mart, and had our neighbor Brenda make his cake. And all I can say is his second birthday party seemed so much less stressful than his first.

We got very lucky and the weather was beautiful, so we were able to have everyone sit out in the front yard in lawn chairs.

And I honestly think that Levi had just as much fun as he did the year before.

At first, he just plain loved all the attention he was getting since everyone had formed a circle around where he was playing. Then when Grandpa Randy showed up with a red Radio Flyer wagon, Levi’s day was complete.

From then on, anything Levi did, he did with or in his wagon. For the first ten minutes, he pulled it around the group of guests in the yard. Then he fought with me when I tried to get him to leave it alone long enough to unwrap his presents!

So we compromised: I plopped him in his wagon and handed him a present. It was the only way he would unwrap his gifts! He had to be in that wagon.

We even had to drag him into the garage in his wagon so that he could blow out the candle on his birthday cake!

The only thing that finally distracted him from his wagon for a while were the trucks he got to go in his sandbox.

Once all of the presents were unwrapped, Levi climbed into his wagon with his new trucks and wanted to be pulled around the yard. Lucky for us his cousin Jayden, who just turned six, was more than happy to oblige.

By the time everyone was leaving, Levi and Jayden were both in the wagon riding around courtesy of Aunt Shey-Shey. And Levi looked like he was all partied out.

Good thing birthdays only come once a year… They’re rough!
