From the Other Side of the Edge….
If You Want
Them to “Stop Hatin’ ”, …then …Stop Hatin’ !!
By Joe Facinoli
This has now, truly and officially, gone from the ridiculous to the
perverse.
Last week, President Obama, in his best and full flight campaign mode,
played to a giddy and clueless crowd of supporters in Kansas City, by
saying that the Republicans in Congress needed to “…Stop Hatin’ ” on
him, and should instead, …actually get something done (that he approved
of, …of course).
Replete with all the pop and hip-hop phrases and references he could
muster, and in his now too familiar, guiltless and very
un-Presidential, on-the-stump style (read: jive talkin’), he
cajoled and chastised his adversaries for spending more time “hatin’ ”
him, than effectively serving the American people (in ways, …of course,
that he thinks they should).
Well, …just gag me with a spoon (my own “pop” reference, …an old one,
but it still works).
And when I heard this latest absurdity, …I threw up a little, in my
mouth (another one, …not so old, and definitely still works).
But if I were to note that the President’s accusations amounted to
nothing more than “the Pot, calling the Kettle black” (a very old
pop saying, that even so, I’m not ashamed to still use), would I then
be called a racist ??
In this post-modern, post-common sense, post-reality time and culture?
…you can bet your sweet patooty, that I would. In a
heartbeat, or a New York minute, …whichever would be
faster.
Alright, …enough attempts at cutesy pop sayings and references (do you
hear me, …Mr. Prez?), let’s think clearly about this nonsense for a
bit.
The man has a legacy of inactivity and non-leadership, of ignoring
laws, customs, international partnerships, and the Constitution, and of
creating sheer and utter disasters, unmatched in Presidential history,
…and he wants us to “…stop hatin’ ” HIM !! And every
step he makes, and breath he takes ??!!?
That’s simply the height of political arrogance, rhetoric, and
stupidity, for thinking that could just slip right by, unnoticed, and
unchallenged.
But that’s our man (and I didn’t say “boy”). Common sense,
facts, and reality, never got in the way of a good crowd thumping
campaign speech, …old school preacher style.
Truth can take a beating, …as long as the sound bite comes off good,
…and very slick.
But let’s take a look at this, from a psychological point of
view.
Why does he want so badly, for us to “…stop hatin’ ” him?
Is he, in fact, clueless to all around him? Or just
viciously arrogant?
Or, …very likely, …just an insecure little boy (sorry, but I had to use
that here), who’s caught in the wrong place, at the wrong time, …and
knows all too well, that he’s in way over his head.
Unfortunately, it’s probably some of all of these sad choices.
And it doesn’t help that he’s so full of hate, himself. Or
maybe, that’s how he recognizes it, and why he’s so afraid of that
emotion, coming at him, from the outside.
After all, he hates a lot of things, …and hates an even greater number
of people.
Politically, of course he hates Republicans, and even non-throne
sniffing Democrats. They are not only his
adversaries, but simply put, they are in his way.
And so is the Constitution, which he hates so much that he pretends it
doesn’t exist, …because it just doesn’t let him do whatever he thinks
he should be doing (which, btw, has nothing to do with what he should
be doing for the American people).
And he hates Congress (at least when the GOP is in control of part of
it), because he is supposed to work with them, and treat them as equals
within the government, …when we all know that he thinks he has no
equal, and that he can’t be bothered by having to work alongside of
anyone.
He hates the military, …because they are always making him take a stand
on something, …which he really hates, because then he opens himself up
for people to criticize him (and maybe hate him), and he loses some of
his political and voting base.
And you guessed it, he hates that, …almost more than
anything.
He hates big business, and rich people too, unless they are giving him
money, which a lot of rich folks do. And that creates a
dilemma for him: how to take stacks of cash from the very
people he is jealous of, and whom he hates so much, because of their
big stacks of cash.
And, for balance, he hates poor people as well, because they are not
only a nuisance obligation, but mainly, because he’s stuck with doing
something for them, and really, …he doesn’t care a whit about
them.
But personally, he also has troubles. For instance, I
believe that he hates white people.
Because he doesn’t know what to do with them, nor how to relate to
them, owing to his conflicted family history, and because of his
political upbringing and tutelages, which told him that all whites were
overbearing and bad, as least politically.
His mother was white, and all but left him after a time (no doubt some
hate there), but his grandmother (who raised him in Hawaii, and loved
him) was also white, and small minds have a hard time with such
things.
By his own hand, he hates his father. Or admires him, …or
misses that he never knew him, and hates him for that, because his Dad
(who was black) deserted him, and at such a young
age.
Trust me, lesser conflicts have created bigger
problems. This kind of thing stays with someone, …for
their whole life.
And probably, he even hates Michelle, …for being stronger than he is
(both physically and emotionally), and because she’s probably smarter,
and definitely because he’s afraid of her. (his own words!)
And if that thing was “arranged”, as some contend, or if other rumors
about her are true, …then that would really suck, and one could
understand THAT hate (unless he was into that sort of
thing).
In my opinion, perhaps the biggest problem here is, …that he hates
being President. Or at least, he’s very bored
by it.
He loves the trappings, and the bennies, to be sure, …but absolutely
hates the responsibilities, and the need to get along with people he
wouldn’t give two cents for, if he wasn’t obligated to try to work with
them.
Steady, everyday work only bores and aggravates him, …and he hates
that.
Martin Luther King, Jr. (a black man, who had more than enough reasons
to hate white people, but who found a way to work with them, for the
better) once said:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: …only Light can do
that. Hate cannot drive out hate: …only Love can do that.”
And some strong, smart, determined, and non-vindictive, actual
leadership, …wouldn’t hurt either.
Let’s hope our man/boy steps up to all of that, …in the coming weeks
and months (but not holding my breath).
