Website
to promote Darke County
Several
businesses have been getting phone calls from a man named Jeff
Rhodes. (no relation to Mike Rhoades, different spelling). Mr. Rhodes
is calling businesses stating that in conjunction with the
Commissioners, they are doing a video of Darke County. This is true.
This is not a scam.
CGI
Communications, the name of the company is based in Rochester New
York, and we were notified of this company by the NACO (National
Association of Counties) and they checked out with the CCAO (County
Commissioners Association of Ohio). Mr. Rhodes will let you know that
someone will be contacting you, a Ms. Nikki Klier (pronounced clear),
to talk to you about the website and the price.
This
video is of no cost to the County. When we were contacted by this
company, Mike Rhoades and myself thought it was a great way to
promote the quality of life in Darke County. This site is in no way
intended to compete with others like Darke County Visitors, Economic
Development, Hometown opportunity, and the Chamber sites. This site
will have links to those sites, once people see what Darke County has
to offer. Most of those sites, except the visitors bureau,
concentrate on Economic development.
We
want this site to concentrate on WHY people should come here to live.
It will focus on the parks, housing, medical facilities,
entertainment, festivals, schools, and things to do. Ms. Klier is
selling the advertising for this site. If you choose to participate,
you may do so. In no way are we saying that you MUST join this site
and pay. That is a decision you and your company can make.
Our
feeling on this was, and is, let’s do all we can to promote the
LIFE aspects of the County. It is a great place to live, and
anything we can do to promote that, we will. However, because of a
mix-up, we did not get the chance to let people know about this
project, and when they would be contacted. We spoke with Nikki about
this, and she agreed this was a mistake. We are sorry if this has
caused any consternation with any business contacted already. If you
have any questions, please feel free to call us.
