U.S.
Senator Sherrod Brown
National
Mentoring Month
January
is National Mentoring Month – a time to recognize the important
role mentors play in our communities. Mentors serve our nation by
providing thoughtful guidance and support that helps young people
succeed both inside and outside the classroom. They serve as role
models, instill confidence in young people, and ensure mentees have a
stable and trusting relationship in their lives.
Mentors
often find that they benefit more than the young people, by learning
from their mentees. Not only do these partnerships provide emotional
support, but there is also an economic benefit to our communities.
According to one report, each dollar invested in mentoring generates
three dollars in return.
Each
week, several members of Senator Sherrod Brown’s (D-OH) staff visit
an elementary school to read with students during their lunch break.
It is important to take time out of our busy lives to help make a
small difference in another person’s life. Thank you to Ohioans,
and all Americans, who inspire others through their service.
Sen.
Brown is proud to be an original cosponsor of a Senate resolution
recognizing January as National Mentorship Month.
