Economic Solutions are Working in Ohio; Washington Should Take Note
Mar

WASHINGTON,
D.C. – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today welcomed
reports showing Ohio has created 238,000 new private-sector jobs
since January 2011 under Republican Gov. John Kasich’s policies of
low taxes, balanced budgets and education reform – a stark contrast
to the agenda of President Obama and his Democratic-controlled Senate
in Washington, who have pressed for higher taxes and increased
government spending and placed harmful new burdens on small
businesses, such as the president’s health care law, that have made
it harder to create jobs.
“In
the three years since Ohio abandoned the Obama model of higher taxes
and increased spending, we’ve seen the creation of 238,000 new
private-sector jobs in our state. That number would be even higher
today if a similar change in direction had been taken in Washington
at the same time by President Obama and his Democratic-controlled
Senate. Our Republican majority in the U.S. House has focused for
three years on removing barriers to private-sector job creation and
passing bills that would help to implement our Plan for Jobs and
Economic Growth. We’ve passed dozens of bills, many with
bipartisan support, that would help to create jobs from
coast-to-coast and get our economy moving again. Unfortunately, most
of those bills have been ignored by the president and his Senate
while they’ve focused instead on an interminable quest for higher
taxes, increased spending, limits on American energy production and
new regulations on employers.
“At
some point, the president and his allies in Washington need to admit
that their policies aren’t working – and take note of what is
working in states like Ohio, which are putting Republican economic
solutions into action and succeeding despite the challenges being
thrown at them by Washington.”
