Boehner: Ohioans’ Priorities Are Our Priorities

WASHINGTON, DC – At a press briefing with Republican leaders today, Congressman John Boehner (R- West Chester) highlighted what he hears over and over again from his constituents in Ohio – that their top priorities continue to be more jobs and a stronger economy.

Rep. Boehner drove home the fact that he is leading House Republicans in listening to Ohio’s families and small business owners and continuing to focus on those top priorities. Following are Boehner’s remarks:

You know, last week I spent running around my own congressional district and heard the same thing that I’ve heard for five years, ‘where are the jobs’ And I think the policies that are coming out of this administration are causing our economy not to grow and the number of jobs that we need not to occur. And whether I was at a farm, a factory, or small businesses across my district I heard the same thing over and over again, and it’s the reason why the House has continued to stay focused on the American people’s priorities. We’ve made their priorities our priorities, and that’s jobs.

Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are going to take up a bill that, according to the Congressional Budget Office, will cost our economy 500,000 to a million jobs. I’ve got a better idea. Actually, I’ve got a stack of better ideas and they’re the stacks of jobs bills that we’ve sent over to the United States Senate that they ought to be taking up and they ought to be passing.

The president should pick up his phone and call Senate leaders to move these House-passed jobs bills that would provide better jobs for the American people, more jobs, and a higher standard of living.”
