Boehner on
Attempt to Sell Ohioans on ObamaCare
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Boehner (R – West Chester) today
released the following statement as Health and Human Services Secretary
Sylvia M. Burwell visited Cincinnati in an attempt to sell Ohioans on
the president’s disastrous health care law.
“The Obama administration can try all it wants to ‘sell’ ObamaCare to
Ohioans, but the truth is that local businesses, families, and seniors
– all of the people who make our area so great – have experienced the
broken promises firsthand and recognize that ObamaCare is driving up
their health care costs, hurting our economy, and making it harder for
small businesses to hire. And just this week, we learned more
about the deceptive tactics used to ram ObamaCare through the House and
Senate by one of the law’s chief architects, Jonathan Gruber. As
I’ve said many times, these are the reasons why Republicans remain
committed to repealing the law and replacing it with solutions that
will lower health care costs and protect American jobs.”
NOTE: As reported by Fox19, WXIX, Cincinnati, “A new survey finds that
one-fifth of people with private plans still spend at least 5 percent
of their income on out-of-pocket health care costs … the findings, from
the research group The Commonwealth Fund, found that 21 percent of
adults with health coverage spent 5 percent or more of their income on
out-of-pocket costs -- not including premiums -- over the past year,
and 13 percent spent 10 percent or more.”
The Ohio Department of Insurance confirms that the 2015 premium rate
for the individual market will average $372.86, a 12 percent increase
over 2014; the 2015 premium rate for small group will average $448.55,
a 12 percent increase over 2014.
