U.S. Representative John Boehner
Massive New
Rule Puts Millions of Jobs at Risk
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) issued the
following statement today on the Obama administration’s costly new
draft Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation:
“The Obama administration’s massive new regulation - the most expensive
rule ever proposed by the EPA - could slash family budgets by more than
$1500 per year, reduce GDP by trillions, and cost our economy millions
of jobs. If implemented, it would also undercut our ability to
use America’s energy boom to reset our country’s economic foundation,
revitalize manufacturing, and put more Americans back to work.
The president signaled his own concern with this costly proposed
regulation - which is even more damaging than his national energy tax -
when he delayed the rule three years ago, citing ‘the importance of
reducing regulatory burdens and regulatory uncertainty.’
Those concerns are no less valid today, as millions remain unemployed
and middle-class families continue struggling with higher costs and
stagnant wages.
Americans have made clear to the president that his priorities are not
theirs, and this is precisely the kind of misguided policy they
rejected earlier this month. The new American Congress will
continue listening to the American people, and take action to protect
middle-class families, and our economy, from the Obama administration’s
regulatory onslaught.”
