From the Other Side of the Edge….
Idiot Nurse,
…Idiot Doctor, …Idiot (and Arrogant) Americans
By Joe Facinoli
What do you call the student who graduated last in their class, at
Medical School??
Unfortunately, we would still have to call them:
“Doctor”.
What would you say to the student who finished last in their class, in
Nursing School ??
Just as unfortunately, if we didn’t call them “Nurse Ratchett”, for
their probable personality, and predictable bedside manner, we would be
forced to say, at our time of greatest need: “Nurse,
…can you help me?”
What we also have to call these people, the ones who we count on so
completely, and think of as so special, is: “Human Beings”.
And they are not always (so special).
The point is: even Doctors and Nurses, …medical
professionals whom we hope would know better, regarding their possible
spreading of a highly infectious disease, cannot be trusted any more
than mere common folk, who have no medical training
whatsoever.
That’s why quarantines and travel bans are not only logical, ….they are
a necessity. At least until we have a better handle
on this deadly disease called Ebola.
The nurse from Maine, Traci Hickox, who whined and complained about
being detained at Newark (N.J.) Airport, after she had just come from
Sierra Leone, where she actually had her hands on actual Ebola
patients, ….is an Idiot.
An arrogant, self-absorbed, mindless Idiot.
With not a lick of common sense, community mindedness, nor a thought
for anyone, nor anything, outside her own self-contained, miserable
aura.
We still know so little about this disease, and yet Nurse Nancy, …uh,
…I mean Traci, …wants to tell us that we have the science all wrong,
and that she, above all others, knows she’s not contagious, and that
her civil rights are being violated.
Really ???
An Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, surely awaits this
one.
And untold millions too, from her apparent discovery of the Ebolan
cure, and self-less sharing of her vast knowledge of this scourge on
society, and of medicine in general, with the American
public.
Either that, or she’ll ride her bike through the woods, with her
boyfriend. Almost the same, …right?
Americans are so arrogant, and so thoroughly stupid.
We think that nothing ever applies to us. That rules
and laws are mere suggestions, to be followed and obeyed, or not, if
and when we feel like it. Or when we won’t be
inconvenienced, in the slightest, if we do decide to obey
them.
Even laws of nature, physics, and common sense.
Idiots.
But can you blame us?? Our leadership is so
senseless, and inane, that we have nothing to hold us back, from being
totally self-centered, and moronic, about everything.
Idiot doctors at the helm of the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), who change their minds, and their protocols daily
about Ebola, but still don’t have it close to right.
An idiot President, who won’t take a simple breath, nor make a single
visit to the bathroom, without first thinking of every possible
political ramification, and its effect on some campaign, somewhere in
the country.
The idea that a travel ban, to and from West Africa, would somehow
increase the spread of Ebola, is mind boggling. But
that’s what the CDC, and Obama, are selling.
And then there’s Dr. Craig Spencer, from NYC, who has just returned
from Guinea (also in West Africa), where he was exposed to Ebola
patients.
Another idiot.
A few days removed from his good deed trip, and just one day prior to
showing strong signs of the disease (he surely had some clue), he
thought it would be just fine to bop around Manhattan on the subway
(three separate trips), take a 3 mile jog down Riverside Drive, go
bowling, take in a farmer’s market in Harlem, and eat at a restaurant
in Greenwich Village.
Amazing. A potential latter day Typhoid
Mary! How self-absorbed and clueless can one
be? And he’s a doctor !!!
Obviously, the CDC’s self-monitoring “honor system” only works if
someone has a conscience, and doesn’t hold themselves above it
all.
We are Americans, after all, and can’t be trusted to do the right
things, involving anything outside our own little spheres, …even if we
have been favored with a higher calling, like medical professionals are
supposed to have.
These two morons, along with the mess in Texas, involving the first
Ebola patient, the nurses who treated him, and the CDC’s “assistance”
with that, …prove the point well that an elevated IQ, and a seven
(plus) year commitment to medical school and training, …can be very
easily mutually exclusive to common sense, selflessness, and common
decency.
By the way, did you know that horses entering the U.S. from other
countries, have to be quarantined for 60 days, before they are released
to go on their way?
And that Air Force One is screened, checked, and scoured, for mere
“dirt contamination”, every time it returns from an overseas trip, so
that some strange and new virus or whatever, is not brought into this
country, by way of the President’s itinerary?
Why is that, …one wonders?? A double standard, …or
just common sense?
So, …let me get this straight. Horses and
Presidential airplanes have to wait long periods, and need strict
checking out after international travel, …but people, …nah man, …come
on in, and go wherever you want!!
Are we stupid, …or what???
Well, I think at least we now have names, to go along with the
hypothetical questions asked earlier, about who had what class ranking
in Med School, and what we should call them.
“Idiots” …still jumps to mind (after clear and careful thought,
and diagnosis, …or at least as much as they gave us, before acting like
arrogant fools).
