Darke County Senior Scribe
Mother Goose…
Let Loose
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson delves into politics
with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s a follow-up to the voter mandate on Nov. 4. Even
President Barack Obama had to acknowledge the Republicans had “a good
day.” You might find some of the phrasing familiar as Lois decided
Mother Goose is an appropriate format for her prose. Agree or not, her
commentary is worth a look.
Wilson's completed set - five volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact editor@countynewsonline.org

THE
WICK
THE
LAST SENTENCE
Barack, be
nimble.
Peeker, peeker, story seeker
Barack’s
non-stick.
Broke a scandal from a leaker.
Barack jumps over
his
His scoop put crooks in a prison cell
scandals
quick!
And there they kept them for a spell.
OFF THE
CUFF
WASTE NOT!
Hill wag, Joe Veep,
Brittle state, Blue
Has lost his speech
Don’t blow your horn.
And doesn’t know where to find it.
Things could go dead
so
He’ll draft a bad fib
The folks grow forlorn.
Or muff an ad lib.
Where is the leader who
Just leave him alone
should tend and keep?
He’ll toss us a bone—
He’s stuck in a
shortfall
Come bragging his tale behind him.
standing waist
deep.
THE
COUNTDOWN
MARKET SHARES
Hickory, dickery dock,
Play middle,
middle—
The House ran out the clock.
Fat cats afford to fiddle.
Its bills sent up
The Dow shoots over the
moon.
Met Reid’s hiccup—
The little guy’s graph
The Senate struck more than one,
Got cut in half—
And now its session is done.
Tycoons ran away with the
boon.
Trickery, bickery bloc.
THE
HOSPITAL
LINE
LOSING IT
Wounded, warrior, Will,
Hack that—should eat no fat!
He went to the V. A.—
Boost life—should eat all
lean.
Upstairs and downstairs,
And so without the two
He waited there all day.
Fed-up kids formed their
view:
He’s put upon a list,
“Hate that.
Told, “You will get a call.”
Tastes flat
He finds that he’s been missed.
Like pap.
The list? They faked it all!
Must scrap.”
They flicked their platters
clean.
