From the Other Side of the Edge….
Ebola: Just
more of the Politics of NonSense
By Joe Facinoli
It’s always about the “Spin” today.
First, last, and always, …it’s about how something can be “Spun”, to
best political advantage.
No matter who gets hurt, nor how many people might be negatively
affected, …even if thousands of those people (or more) eventually
die.
It’s always about how the individuals charged with running things, the
governments they belong to, and the countries where they reside, can be
made to look good, …no matter how bad a job they are
doing.
Any crisis, or delicate issue, or potentially damaging geo-political
occurrence, will be made to seem as if those in charge are right on top
of things, and magnanimously doing what’s best for everyone involved.
And we all know that this is just simply,…first, last, and always,
….NonSense.
The Ebola outbreak is no different. It’s just the latest
opportunity for the political “Spin Doctors” to work their “magic” (or
satanic voodoo, as the case may be).
Over three thousand people dead in West Africa, from an extremely
infectious, so far always fatal, nearly 40 year old disease, which
still has no known cure.
And yet our government, led by President Obama and Secretary of State
John Kerry, adamantly and incredibly, oppose any travel restrictions to
these ravaged areas.
Unbelievable Nonsense.
Defies all Common Sense.
Why are people quarantined in hospitals, anyway, when they have some
condition (including Ebola) that can be easily spread, by touching, or
sneezing, or coughing on another??
So that the disease in question will not spread to
others!!!
Just Common Sense.
Then what’s the difference in simply making the quarantine area a whole
lot bigger (like, say half a continent), to keep that which cannot be
cured from finding new homes in others, and in other faraway places ????
But no, our leaders don’t want to “profile” a given geographic area,
nor stigmatize an economically challenged locale, nor say that people
from certain countries are to be treated in a different way from all
the others.
Nonsense.
They say that to block travel to these needy areas would impede finding
a cure, and assisting those who have contracted the
disease.
Nonsense. If doctors and other aid workers want to go
to West Africa to help out, just let them go. But with the
understanding that if they catch what they are fighting against, …then
they are on their own.
And when and if they do return, they will need to spend a few weeks (at
least six) in quarantine, over there, to determine that they are indeed
healthy, before coming home.
Common sense, …that’s all.
And why are we sending military troops to West
Africa??? Four thousand of them! To
build temporary hospitals, so that more people can die in bed, rather
than on the ground?
What happens when the troops return? What are they
bringing with them?
Nonsense. To directly risk more people’s lives,
and put millions more souls, from an entirely different place, in
danger of catching their death, through no fault of their own, …is
complete and utter nonsense.
All to make this President, and his bogus war-hero Secretary of State,
appear to be good and wonderful “Citizens of the World”, even while
they disregard, and disrespect, the populace who elected
them.
Foolish nonsense. Vanity, legacy, and false
pride, above the safety and security of their own nation, makes this
egotistical pair as much of a danger to the country, …as Ebola
itself.
What would happen, if the tables were reversed? If
Ebola, or something that serious, were running rampant in the
U.S.?
Then we should be just as in favor of travel restrictions to, or from
other countries, to keep that kind of killer sickness contained, within
the confines of one place.
Common Sense.
Why did Ebola, which was first discovered in Africa in 1976, never get
to the point where it is now, killing dozens a day, infecting hundreds
more, and putting thousands in danger, with each swiftly passing moment?
The “experts” seem to agree, that there is really only one simple
explanation.
And that would be, …because this virus affects the human body so
rapidly, and those who contract it die so quickly, this killer has
never had the chance to spread itself, …until now.
Coupled with the fact that the population in these areas of Africa has
been so sparse, any introduction or transmission of it elsewhere, was
logistically problematic.
But those days are passed, …for whatever reasons.
It’s here now, and with a bitter vengeance.
So what is our government doing about all this??
Well, since it thinks that the obvious idea of travel restrictions is
just silly, it has imposed other “drastic” measures on travelers to the
U.S., instead.
It now “asks” those same travelers how have they been feeling
lately.
Any cold symptoms? Cough, fever, flu-like
discomfort?
Been to Africa lately?, …it now sternly questions those disembarking
from planes at five of our busiest international airports (while dozens
of other flights arriving daily elsewhere, go
un-questioned).
Please be honest with us, now, …the health of the nation, and the
world, might depend on it.
And people are ALWAYS honest, …right?
Especially those with terroristic tendencies, to whom a highly
communicable, un-curable virus, which can easily be spread amongst an
unsuspecting population of stupid infidels, might be just the ticket to
Nirvana, …and all those virgins.
Hmm…. maybe some common sense there, …if you have terror in your
heart. But mostly, …more nonsense.
So what to do?
This will sound cruel, but is seems to me the only practical
way.
Keep those in Africa who have this virus, …or who have enough proximity
to it to potentially cause themselves harm, …away from the rest of the
world.
Shut them off, and lock them down. Many thousands may
die, …but that would be less than millions. Getting
this disease is a death sentence, …so don’t go there, and don’t let
anyone from there, go anywhere else.
This has worked before, when lack of travel and large populations did
it for us, …but now we need to help that along.
Common Sense.
Work on a cure, …finally. The world got caught with
their pants down on this. Science is always looking
to cure something, and this one has been around for forty years, …yet
nothing.
What have we been waiting for? Apparently we have a
good idea how, even though it may take months to manufacture, but we
just never did. Really ???
Nonsense.
Too busy working on that never-ending cure for Cancer, I guess, which
is a topic involving nonsense (in how that program works—politically),
for another day.
So we have a choice here.
Let the “natural process” play itself out, as it has for centuries, in
nature’s own way, while protecting the rest of the world’s inhabitants,
who can then live to fight another day.
(Happens every day, in the animal kingdom, so why should the human
species be any different?)
Or not, …and hold everyone’s hand, tightly, and politically correctly,
while endangering the entire population of all the world, …and then end
it all, right here, and say good night.
Common sense vs. nonsense. Seems like a
clear choice to me.
