Darke County Senior Scribe
It’s that time
of year… again!
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s politics. Wilson offers two poems, each addressing a
different look at the ludicrous antics of the political process. First
there’s the eternal Pelosi, who is often remembered (not so fondly) for
her famous statement: “We’ll know what’s in the bill when we pass it.”
Then there’s the winsome look at the economy of today.
Wilson's completed set - four volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact

FINAL TALLY
A talk host states:
“As to the Fates
For what it’s worth—
If it should be
That I would be
The last man
On Earth
And Pelosi
Would seem to be
The last woman
On Earth,
With that dismal account,
I’d demand a recount!”

SETTING THE COURSE
Finding his bills were callable,
Sailed forth the man named Gullible.
His debts held no immunity.
He searched for opportunity
To make a life in some new land.
To become rich is what he planned.
He found a country and a town.
Soon his goals were turned upside down.
After taxes, little was left;
Each day his life was more bereft.
Folks were lured by the hypnotic,
Government for the robotic.
They lived off its seductive dole.
Desire seemed gone, as did their soul.
Chagrined, he hoisted his ship’s sails,
Penned the book, “Gullible’s Travails.”
When his story at last was told,
He earned his glory and his gold.
