From the Other Side of the Edge….
Gone, ...but
not Forgotten (nor Missed)

Do you ever really miss a toothache? Or a broken
leg?
Would you miss arthritis, if suddenly the meds for that actually
worked, and cooled those seething joints?
Do you miss a crippling Migraine, after its blinding effects finally
subside??
Or Stage Four Cancer, after a miraculous surgery cleared your charts of
any evidence of that insidious disease???
I don’t think so.
We’d be so thankful, when the pain, aggravation, and suffering was
finally at an end, …that most of us would simply be thrilled to put
these physical trials and challenges behind us, …and get on with our
lives as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, this simple “moving on” component to life, is not always
available to us in the world of politics and current
events.
And similar to disabling personal issues, we are often forced to live
with the cultural damage done by deceitful, bitter, and abusive
politicians, and elected or appointed officials, long after they are
gone, and much longer than it takes to triumph over mere physical
maladies.
Such is the case with Attorney General Eric Holder, who this week
decided he would resign that office, and take his contemptuous and law
ignoring act to some new, and as yet un-named,
destination.
To explain how this man will be “missed”, …would take a thirty page
composition, and a two hour conversation.
And any relief brought by his departure, will be tempered, for far too
many years into our future, by the “phantom pain” he will leave us,
…the effects of which will be akin to that felt by an amputee, long
after a damaged limb has been removed.
Could anyone have done more damage, so blatantly, and in so many areas
and arenas, and still never have been prosecuted!!??
He has been the most divisive Attorney General of the United States, to
ever hold that office.
He has bent and ignored more laws, blocked more legitimate legal
actions by states and individuals, and initiated more illegal,
clandestine, and truly un-Constitutional activities, than any man ever
to sit in his chair.
And maybe more than all other predecessors, …combined !!
He is a race baiter, and a race monger. And even as
he plays the race card on all others, at every chance, he is the most
unapologetic and bitter kind of racist, himself, at every
turn.
Early on in his term, he accused Americans of being a “Nation of
Cowards”, saying that no one wanted to have a real, open, and honest
conversation about race, and accusing those who didn’t (everyone, in
his estimation) of harboring secret and/or prejudicial motives for not
doing so.
Okay, maybe some points there. But since the time
this bold accusation was laid on us, …just what have we heard from
General Holder, his ownself, by way of getting this oh so important
“conversation” started??
That’s right, ….crickets.
Nada. Nothing.
It was all just self-serving, agenda-driven, guilt-tripping
blather.
He is an “operative”, plain and simple, and an “activist”, much moreso
than any sort of lawyer.
And nowhere near being anything like the “public servant”, which the
definition of his job calls for him to be.
His “modus operandi” is so far from any legal basis, or even the idea,
of an Attorney General’s office, …that of protecting the citizenry from
the abuses of state and federal governments, and insuring that the
Executive Branches will always act and behave in a legal, fair, and
Constitutional way, …as to be ridiculous.
He has steadfastly blocked every attempt of citizens to exercise their
Second Amendment guarantee to keep and bear arms, due to his personal
beliefs, rather than any legally founded reason, …and has even tried to
circumvent and ignore this Constitutionally sacred right.
Every American citizen’s gun would be rounded up, and locked deep in a
Justice Dept. closet, never to be seen nor used again, if he had his
way.
His wrongheaded efforts at securing “Voting Rights” are completely
laughable, and purely political, labeling the common sense requirement
to show proof of identification, before voting on election day, as
discriminatory, and even racist.
Mind boggling, and so proprietary. And so
transparent, as to his motives.
The list of his offenses and abuses is long, and now
infamous. And always include extreme manipulations, which
pay no attention whatsoever to the rule of law, and are first and
foremost, … driven by his relentless agenda.
In the “Fast and Furious” debacle, Holder’s Justice Dept., at his
direction, tried to con the Mexican drug cartel (which is a really bad,
and very stupid idea to start with, …just ask anyone trying to live a
normal life in that crime and corruption infested country) by
giving/selling them automatic weapons we were supposed to be able to
track, so we could nab the bad guys who ended up with
them.
Well, seems our guys were a little over-matched (go figure), and this
scheme predictably backfired, leading to dozens of deaths, including
one American border guard, all from bullets traced back to “our”
guns.
For this complete circumvention of all laws and common sense, our man
Eric is now the only A.G. ever to be held in Contempt of Congress, when
he refused to be forthcoming to them about this “affair”, and wouldn’t
provide the documents they asked for, in order to get to the bottom of
this tragic mess.
That would be Ever, …in our long national
history! In 225 years!!
And for that matter, he’s the only head of any Cabinet level
department, ever to have that negative distinction!
Hmm, …head of the Justice Dept., …obstructing
justice. Now that’s a nice legacy to have !!
Add to that:
--His cover-up of the IRS’ abuses, when they held up tax
certifications, and illegally examined tax returns, for conservative
groups they didn’t like, for no good (nor legal) reason.
--His complicit actions in helping the NSA, and other govt. agencies,
in collecting personal data and information from private citizens and
individuals, …again, completely unlawfully.
--His improper, if not illegal, intervention into local situations in
Florida and Missouri, involving young black males who were killed by
white police/security officers (they were not Federal trials, and he
had no jurisdiction).
--His non-prosecution of Black Panthers who intimidated (or worse)
white voters going to polling places in Phila., in 2008 (sorry, wrong
color, I guess).
--And his stonewalling and dereliction of duties, in countless cases
and situations, where help from the Justice Dept. would have made a
huge legal difference (but they were conservatives, and/or rich people,
so they don’t really count, now, do they Mr. Holder?).
All combined, and with a lot more, …to make this the most politically
oriented, if not criminally so, A.G.’s office in our history.
You can almost hear him saying something like:
“Well, …my work here is done”, in that always condescendingly arrogant
manner of his, …with his smug and way too self-satisfied look, staring
right at you, screaming: “I’m smarter than you
are”.
His work is “done”, alright, and so might we be.
The rumors are, that he wants to be nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court
(God help us). Or perhaps, appointed Secretary General of
the United Nations (can’t hurt us there, as that place should be
boarded up and renovated as condos).
But I have a different nomination in mind for him: 15
to 20 at Leavenworth, Kansas, …for abuse of power, malfeasance in
office, and second degree murder.
That would ease the pain of that migraine a little, or make that bad
tooth seem like a distant memory. Missing him in that
way, …would be easy.
However, like a big, deep scar, from a surgeon’s knife, or the itch you
can’t scratch, after an amputation, some things we never forget, and
continue to pay for, …long after the fact.
So, …unlike that “bad penny”, which fable says will always return,
let’s hope he doesn’t. But this is a man who
never does anything, …that’s not political by nature.
So keep your powder dry.
