Do we need to
refocus?
By George Starks
There are many of my readers out there that served our great nation and
possibly served with or next to me in one uniform or another.
There are several that I graduated with that served with one suffering
with cancer.
One of my closest buddies served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam.
Many of you have thanked us over the course of time for our service and
we all appreciate it.
I often wonder though…
Do we really give thought, as a nation, to the ones that are in harms
way now?
How many of us know that unguided missiles were fired at the USS Harry
Truman CVN 75, by the Iranians recently?
I'm sure by the time you read this, everyone will know this happened
only because it will be all over the local news media on television.
According to reports, the missiles missed by a mere 1500 yards or 4500
feet.
This is less than a mile (5280 feet for a mile.)
My point is this.
As we enter a new year, maybe we should focus less on the ones that
have served and focus more on the ones that are serving.
None of us that ever served did it for the glory or for the thank you’s
that we now receive.
Even now, I'm not sure how to respond to this when I receive thanks for
my service. I usually just say it was my pleasure and leave it at that.
I'm still not sure though that that is the proper response.
Again, as we enter the new year, I think it's time as a nation that we
actually refocus on what is real and going on now. For those of you who
are not aware, we are now living in the end times according to Biblical
principles. The world is at war and we are witnessing a time in our
lives that we should be worried about.
May I wish each and every one of you a very Happy New Year and a
blessed 2016.
In the terms of Spock from Star Trek, live long and prosper. I hope
everyone that reads this will prosper in 2016.
Happy New Year!
