From the Other Side of the Edge….
Our Clueless,
Wimp of a President, …Brings a Knife to a Gunfight
By Joe Facinoli
There’s not usually a lot of Rules, …in a Fight to the Death.
Actually, there’s really only One:
Be the one who’s still breathing, …when it’s over.
But there are a few other “must do, …and not do” things that should be
considered, while preparing to do battle for your Life (and/or your Way
of life).
Like, …never tell your opponent that you really don’t feel like
fighting, no matter what he does, …and that you probably won’t start in
with him until he, …say, …shoots your dog, steals your car, or rapes
your wife.
And then, still, …only maybe. Kinda gives him just a
bit of an edge, …doncha think??
And never tell him, ahead of time, that there will only be certain
punches you will throw, to specific parts of his body, …and that there
will be limited weapons you will use against him, no matter what he
does, …or uses.
There’s that edge again, …and it just got bigger.
Never tell him that you are only going to fight (once you finally get
started, that is) for a limited amount of time, no matter what’s
happening at the end of that specified period.
Muhammad Ali invented that one, when he “Rope-a-Doped” George Foreman
in Zaire, many years, and battles ago. The
Russians got Hitler to fall into that same trap.
Everyone knows that if you can wait out an impatient, or ill-prepared
opponent, …then your chances of winning will
skyrocket.
And most assuredly, …never, …ever under any circumstances, …come
under-manned, and/or out-gunned.
In other words, as that noted philosopher and astute military
strategist Indiana Jones once advised: “Don’t bring a
knife to a gunfight.”
But that is exactly what our clueless, unengaged,
couldn’t-give-a-rat’s-ass President proposes to do, …against the most
vicious group of terrorists in this world, …and the most dangerous
opponent the U.S. has today.
With his recent War Powers request, sent to Congress last week for
their approval to “supposedly” fight more openly and intelligently
against ISIS, …Barack Obama once again showed his inability to grasp
even the most basic principles and understanding, …not only of
international affairs and dealings, …but of his job.
At a time when superior military strength, and a well-planned strategy
are the utmost of priorities, …as we try to defeat an enemy with a
mindset, and loyalty to cause, not seen since the Japanese in the
Pacific island hopping campaigns of World War II, …Obama offered only
weak political dance steps, and a strategy that was, …well, …no
strategy at all.
Our country should have learned this lesson, over the past 70 years,
from nearly every military conflict in which we have
participated.
The end of WWII became nothing more than a political foxtrot, with
Stalin bullying a dying FDR, and then an uninformed Truman, into
annexing half of Europe for Mother Russia, and starting a “Cold War”
with us, that would last for the next 45 years.
All political nonsense. We should have listened to
General Patton’s warnings.
Korea was the most political war the U.S. has ever fought, with
virtually no purpose, other than flexing political muscle, and
accomplishing nothing other than the needless deaths of tens of
thousands of Americans.
Vietnam was virtually the same, with an illegal and immoral origin, an
unwillingness to fight it properly, and an exit that was totally
humiliating for us.
With another 50,000 American lives lost, all because a few dozen
powerful and agenda driven politicians were clueless, and completely
unfeeling, of the bigger picture.
Both Iraq wars began with purpose, but were fought politically, and
were ultimately lost because we let the wrong people dictate our
strategy, when there was one.
And by leaving too early, we compounded the earlier mistakes by giving
away a country, and thus creating a starting point and stronghold for
ISIS.
Not to mention all the weapons and ordnance we “donated” to this
merciless bunch, when our fleeing Iraqi “compatriots” just laid them
down and abandoned them, as they quickly, and meekly, ran out the
door.
Afghanistan was, and is, …a total fool’s errand.
Because there’s nothing there, and never will be.
Centuries of failed attempts by “outsiders”, have proven
that.
The ultimate political chess move, that one. Except
that nobody usually dies while playing chess.
But they sure did here, …and 100% of them, …unnecessarily.
Now we have a “real” enemy to fight. One with no
conscience, no mercy, and no fear. Similar to the
others fought previously, …but with one major difference.
THIS enemy is already here.
Inside our country, …just down the block, …across the street, …and even
right next door. Except that no one, especially in
Obama’s “leadership group”, pays any attention, nor seems to
care.
It’s almost like, …we all think that if we ignore these extremist
Muslims, and pretend that they are just another radical political
group, that they will simply go away somehow, or at least be converted
to our “western” civilized ways.
They will not, …and they will not be.
And now they are in Congress. And all over the Obama
Administration.
And right next door.
Obama says Terrorism is not as big a threat to the U.S. as Climate
Change, or Disease.
Really ?? He actually said that
??? Yep he did.
Well, let’s think about that complete and utter nonsense, for just a
quick minute.
If there is any threat from climate change (whatever that even means,
because all of it is cyclical, really), then try as we might, and spend
all the money we might want to on it, …sorry Al Gore, …but there’s very
little we can actually do about it.
Its effects are small ones, relatively, …and life moves on.
And any disease that comes around these days, modern science and
medicine can usually get a jump on, even if a particular bug is rare,
or tough to fight at its onset. Effects are
relatively few, …in the larger scheme.
But terrorism creates its own life, and is indefensible if allowed to
fester and get organized, and must be stomped on harshly, and fiercely,
until it is totally eradicated.
And its effects can be devastating, …and world changing.
That’s how a fledgling group of disparate, but like-minded peoples,
with no navy, and no real army of their own, was able to beat back the
most powerful country on Earth, nearly 235 years ago, and become the
United States of America.
Terrorism. Persistent, well-planned, in your face,
poorly confronted, guerilla terrorism ….did that.
Against a country which was only half-involved, …from half a world
away.
Think about it.
In 1776, King George III of England was a selfish, arrogant, uninvolved
tyrant, who viewed any confrontation or uprising against him, merely as
a disrespectful inconvenience, …to his opulent, disengaged, and
self-centered lifestyle.
Sound familiar ???
And how well did that work out for ol’ KGIII, …back then ??
That is why ground troops, good ones, …with a ferocious, well
strategized, no holding back plan behind them, …are needed against
ISIS.
Keep the Faith, …and keep your powder dry.
We’re on our own.
