U.S. Representative John Boehner
Flipping The
Script on Washington’s Bureaucracy
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today issued
the following statement on H.R. 185, the bipartisan Regulatory
Accountability Act, which the House passed despite a veto threat from
President Obama:
“The way the federal government hands down regulations is coercive and
combative, as Washington takes opportunities away from hard-working
people with little regard for the cost and consequences. The
Regulatory Accountability Act flips the script on the bureaucrats by
ensuring that major rules can only be issued with maximum transparency
and at the lowest possible cost. While it’s no surprise President
Obama opposes an initiative that imperils his power-hungry bureaucracy,
it’s unfortunate he would threaten to veto another bipartisan jobs
bill. We need to start growing America’s economy instead of
Washington’s bureaucracy, and this is a common-sense idea that will
help us do just that.”
NOTE: Fixing our regulatory system is one of Rep. Boehner’s five points
for resetting America’s economic foundation. They are:
• Reform our tax code.
• Solve our spending problem.
• Reform our legal system.
• Reform our regulatory system.
• Improve our education system.
