Encourages Parents to Provide Input on Ohio Learning Standards
COLUMBUS - Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) announced today that
the Ohio Department of Education is seeking input from parents and
communities regarding the revision of Ohio’s Learning Standards in math
and English language arts.
"It is important that parents review what their children are learning
in school and I hope that many will take this opportunity to share
their ideas with the Ohio Department of Education as they begin the
process of revising Ohio's learning standards," said Faber.
While the curriculum a school district chooses is how schools teach and
use materials, standards lay out what students need to know and be able
to do at each grade level. The standards assist schools and teachers in
making sure students are learning at the necessary level and to be
successful in college and beyond.
Parents have the opportunity to review the standards and submit their
feedback to the department. To learn more about the revision process

If you are a parent interested in providing comments please visit this
site.
The deadline to submit input is April 5, 2016. Following the public
submissions, education experts will review them and teacher committees
will propose changes based on the comments.
