Letters to Santa
Santa visits
Mississinawa Valley Preschool
By Elaine Bailey
“My dog bites,”
Gentry cautioned Santa.
“That’s a good thing to know,” he chuckled. “I’ll watch out for
him when I come to your house on Christmas Eve.”
Santa left the North Pole under the careful supervision of Mrs. Claus
to personally respond to written questions and requests posed by the
three, four and five-year-olds attending Mississinawa Valley Preschool.
Director and teacher Maria Kinninger encouraged the youngsters to write
a letter to Santa Claus during center time. The “learning target” was
“I can write a letter to Santa.”
He read the letters mailed to the North Pole and was motivated to pay a
visit upon the invitation of five-year-old Dakota.
During his visit, the preschoolers entertained him with questions,
songs, and Christmas requests.
It was a magical time for all.
Here are some of the questions the children asked Santa...
How do you get in
my house when I don’t have a chimney?
I use magic. Magic lets me
get into small spaces. I move very quietly so I don’t wake you.
Some children open their windows just a little bit, and I can get in
through the little space. That’s what I do in Germany.
I’ll have my window
unlocked so you can come in!
I know you’ve got a
map to find my house!
Yes, but I also use a computer
now. The world is a big place with lots of children. I’m a
good friend with Google,
How big are your
elves?
Elves come in all
sizes. Some are as tall as Miss Maria.
How are your
reindeer doing?
They are doing well.
They are doing short warm up flights to get ready.
Where are the
reindeer? How did you get here?
Today, they are resting to
get ready for Christmas Eve. I used magic to come to school
today. Magic helps me to get into small spaces, but it also helps
me to go fast. Magic helped me to get here today.
You should have
brought your wife with you!
She’s getting my snacks
ready and helping the elves pack the sleigh.
