Who Gave The Shoes?
By Delbert Blickenstaff
Louise and I were in the This and That Shop at the Brethren Retirement
Community (BRC) on December 5th. Louise had selected some nice
blouses from the collection of donated items. I was looking at
the small amount of men’s clothing when I noticed a pair of new white
shoes. I examined them carefully. I could tell that they
were new because they were still tied together and still had tissue
paper stuffed inside. But they were size 13. (I wear size
9.) The price was $1.00.
I went home without the new white shoes. Later that evening I was
reading John Graham’s newsletter when I suddenly realized that someone
under John’s supervision must wear size 13 shoes. John is in
charge of five houses in Dayton, one in Sidney, and one in
Greenville. So I called John and he said that he had a size 13
man.
So on the next day I went back to the This and That Shop, paid my
$1.00, and got the new shoes. My guess is that someone paid at
least $80.00 for them. I delivered them to Kathy Graham, but I
can’t really finish my story until I find out who is the original
donor. HELP!
