Poetry
with
a Heart... for Valentine’s Day
By Lois

Our Senior
Scribes ‘Poet Laureate’ has a word or two to say about just about every
special
occasion. The day set aside each year for lovers is no different. Here,
she
gives you three completely different approaches to the traditional
Valentine’s
Day observance. County News Online is pleased to offer you the
following:
HAVE A
HEART
On other
occasions, I like any card,
Even
comical ones picked in a rush.
But,
Dearest, choose with romantic regard
My
valentine—in each line MAKE MINE MUSH!

CALL TO
ARMS
Her name is
Tara Mai.
She spells
it M-A-I.
Tara dated
a guy
With a
wandering eye.
To prove to
her he was true,
He pledged,
“I’ll get a tattoo—
A red heart
placed in plain view
With your
name written in blue.”
She
thought, “Two can play this game,”
And said,
“Yes, put on my name
But exactly
as I want—
Letters
reversed back to front.
It will be
a secret sign
Of lasting
love—yours and mine.”
Now the
guy’s lost all his charm,
And his
cheating has gone flat.
For it
reads on his left arm
In bright
blue: “I AM A RAT.”

SHOP TILL
YOU DROP
Arvette was
an avid shopper.
Her
boyfriend found this improper.
He saw how
his honey
Ran through
all the money—
So he
decided to drop her!
