Poetry
and a Yard Sign for
the Undecided
By Lois
Wilson
February 2, 2012
“I noticed
these four candidates had short names that could be interlocked,”
Senior
Scribes Poet Laureate Lois Wilson said. “So many voters are still
undecided… so
I created a yard sign for them.”
Wilson put
her talents to work and created a few verses that millions of voters
could
probably read and say… “That’s me!”
PUTTING IT
TOGETHER
Sometimes
when we’ve heard all the candidates
And we
still like none—
We wish we
could take their best points
And make
the ideal one!

YOU DON’T
MEAN IT?
I hear the
candidates’ policies.
I study
their views and expertise.
Thinking I
know all their spins and tricks,
I choose
one that puts me most at ease—
But he soon
caves to carrots and sticks
As policies
fall to politics

ON THE
STUMP
Many a
politician
Is good at transposition.
They will
tell you left is right—
Down is up
and out of sight.
They’re
shrewd at how they weave it;
You sense
they don’t believe it.
As you look
them in the eye,
Try to
learn what is a lie.
