our

Independence
Day is no different. Below are two poems designed specifically for this
day...
also, don’t forget she has published two of a series of books of her

THE FOURTH
OF JULY
By Lois
Wilson
Beat of
drum,
Blare of
brass,
Here they
come;
Watch them
pass.
Flags held
high—
Red, white,
blue.
Bands march
by
Thrilling
you.
Picnic
food,
Friends and
fun,
Festive
mood—
Everyone.
Nighttime
sky
Dims to
dark.
Fireworks
fly,
Break to
spark.
Flashes
swell;
Sound
bursts stun.
All is
well.
Day is
done.

FOR MORE
THAN SELF
By Lois
Wilson
Early
settlers had the vision
With
courage made the decision
To sail
across the mighty sea
Seeking a
land of liberty.
They
stepped upon the shore.
Some worked
on farms; some plied the trades
They fought
for freedom, formed brigades.
True to the
cause, they knew its worth,
With
victory—a nation’s birth.
Its open
door lured more.
Founders
engaged in wise discourse,
Laid out
the laws—the country’s course.
They
clearly outlined human rights,
The product
of their keen insights.
Tribute to
the brave of yore
Faithful to
the task they bore,
Heroes for
evermore—
The ones
who came before.
