Kindergarten
is fun. We have already learned our ABC’s. We learned them by singing a
song
that sounds like “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

Now I’ve said my ABC’s
Tell me what you think of me.
I
can’t wait ‘till we learn how to write them.
I’ve
already told you about Nelly, our smart yellow lab. Well, yesterday she
did
something strange. Dad brought home a big picture of a man wearing a
hat, and
when he hung it on the wall Nelly started barking at it. Then Mom
remembered
that whenever our mailman wears his hat she barks at him too. She just
doesn’t
like men who wear hats. I wish she could talk to me and tell me why.
Last
week Dad took Henry and me to a farm owned by one of his friends. I
think his
name is George. He has lots of animals like cows and horses and sheep.
He let
Henry and me ride a big Quarter horse mare named Queen. She was very
gentle and
didn’t run or buck. I think she knew we were just kids and she didn’t
want to
hurt us.
George
showed us a half-Arabian foal that he said was a cross between a
Quarter horse
and an Arabian. It was really pretty, and isn’t that a nice word, foal.
I don’t
know how you cross two different kinds of horses, but Dad said he would
explain
it to me when I get older. I can wait. I don’t want to learn too much
now or I
won’t have anything to learn when I get to high school.
Nelly
and I say “So long for now.”
