Meet Virginia
By Mona Lease
Hi,
all!!! I've known Virginia for
the last 5 years or so. The last conversation I had with her was pretty
interesting - so I thought I'd share some of her wisdom - hard earned
by her.
When
I met her, Virginia was very
ill. Her husband started cheating on her with the neighbor woman.
Virginia knew
the truth - she told me at the time. Now the cheating is finished.
Virginia and
her husband are trying to get back on track. The neighbor woman had a
child out
of wedlock. That child had two kiddies out of wedlock. Virginia asked
me if I
saw a pattern. Sadly, yes, Virginia, I see it. The neighbor woman takes
care of
the grand-kiddies. They have part-time Daddies. Enter Virginia's
husband to
"pal around with the grand-kiddies." That stopped when the affair
ended.
The
grand-kiddie stood outside
watching Virginia tend her garden. He held a basketball in his hands
looking a
little lost. Virginia asked me what I thought they had said about her
in front
of the boy. Again, Virginia asked a pointed question - "What will the
kiddie do now that the affair is over and my husband is not a "Daddy"
to him? Will he sire children out of wedlock because he has seen that
it must
be ok to "cheat when trouble comes?"
Virginia
says look at our current
President. Where was his Daddy? Was his childhood the same as my
neighbor
woman's, her child's, and her grand-children's? When you add it up - it
comes
to people with no lines drawn in their lives. Now we have a man with no
lines
drawn in his life, holding a most powerful position - a position that
affects
millions of lives daily.
As
the barest hint of a smile
played across Virginia's face and was gone, she asked me - "Regarding
the
Afro-Americans and they're wanting reparation - that is repayment for
their
"slave days" and their being repressed - Doesn't an Afro-American
holding the Presidency for two terms put the "racial scales" again
balanced? Seriously - White Americans voted for him, too."
Remember
the kiddies and our
service people. Be good to the furry and feahered ones out there. Be safe and
healthy. See ya next time.
Ever Toodles!! MONA
