Introducing Billy
MARY BETH
By Delbert Blickenstaff

Mom and Dad are back with our new baby sister, and she is just as cute as her picture.  She doesn’t talk much and the words she does say are Chinese so we don’t understand her.  Emily is around 20 months old so she babbles a lot but no one outside the family knows what she is talking about.

Well, I mentioned before that I wanted to name her Beth.  Then Henry said that he wanted to name her Mary.  Mom said that those two names went together nicely, and she thought that we should name her Mary Beth.  We all agreed, so that’s her name.

On the following Sunday we took her to church and she attracted a lot of attention.  She was the only Chinese person there and everyone wanted to see her.  I was surprised that she wasn’t afraid of all those strangers, but she seemed to be used to seeing strange people.  I think that Emily helped a lot by staying with Mary Beth all the time.

Even Nelly seemed to accept her right away.
