County Senior Scribe
Easter… and was
Spring an April Fool’s joke
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s Easter, followed by a look at an April Fool, then
spring… if it ever arrives. Wilson offers three poems, each addressing
thoughts about this time of year.
Wilson's completed set - four volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact

HIDE-AND SEEK WARNING
If you decide
To hide outside
The Easter candy,
You should have handy
An alert yard-sitter.
Lest there is a twitter
Or hit-and-run skitter
As some crafty critter
Becomes the benefiter.

A TIPSY TIPTOE
There was a mechanic named Poole
Who never could find the right tool.
When he drank seven juleps,
He lost tools in the tulips.
He's called the "BLOOMIN' APRIL FOOL!"

SPRING SONG
Sing! Sing a song of spring,
Red robin—
A sprightly strain of April rain
Waltzing down my windowpane—
A song to start hearts throbbin'.
Sing! Sing a song of spring,
Bold bluebird—
A tender tune of vernal moon
Hovering o'er a still lagoon—
The sweetest song that you’ve heard.
Sing! Sing a song of spring,
Swift swallow—
A graceful air of budding pear
Flowering out in flashy fare—
A song of things to follow.
Sing! Warblers on wing—
Oh sing a song of spring!
