Ageless Advice
By Mona Lease
Hi, all!! Elle grew up in the depression. She remembered getting out of
school to people singing, dancing, and shouting in the streets - the
war was over - at last!! She lived through hard times - good times bad
times and lonely times. She knew money - no money - some money - much
money and increasing prices to take the "much money." I had come to
depend on her wisdom and opinions on a lot of these columns. She's gone
now. I am glad I paid attention to her words and how she got to them.
If I could speak with her today about this column, I believe she'd say
to write it. I think she'd say that someone would read it and use
it...or tell someone else who could and would use it. And - I know
she'd say that I might never know if the information was used - and
that's ok. That's how "the chain" works. Elle died January 2, 2015.
This is the first column without your advice, Elle. I hope you approve
of it.
In another phone call - I listened to another "I got off the track"
story. And - it's easy to get off of the track. With so many new,
improved products and ideas - it's a full time job trying to keep even
with the money and what is a want or a need. I do not mind the phone
calls - it shows me that I was not the only one who bought into the
"new way." And I can still hear my maternal Grandmother saying that
"you cannot have more money going out than is going into your bank
account."
The caller told me they were going to declare bankruptcy - there was no
other way. They had used possessions as collateral. Now - it could all
go - in a bankruptcy you have to list all of your debts. The lawyer
runs a credit check to present to the court/Judge along with the rest
of the paperwork.
Normally - I would not think too much about it. But another person told
me they were allowed to "run wild" and do whatever - with whomever -
whenever - wherever - at whatever hour...at the age of 11. Now - their
grand-daughter is turning 16...getting a Driver's License. That means
more independence - covering a wider area of this earth with new
"friends." Is this person happy about it? No, nine, nyet, and NO -
@#%*NO.
And herein lies the problem - I believe. As long as we are the ones
that can "run wild" - it's ok. As long as it's someone else that "takes
the hit" - that's ok, too. When it is us or our family - it is usually
another story - not so funny. But, we have a good three generations of
people running wild and expecting others (that are running wild, too!)
- to honor their rights and property. And this proves that we all know
right from wrong.
As I pen this - someone hacked into Eldora Speedway's website. They
said they were ISIS and offered a threat or warning. Other sites were
hacked in the same way. The authorities believe it is a kid or kiddies
pulling a prank. However - it cannot be discounted that the real ISIS
is behind it....which is not funny. Ya know - if these supposed "ISIS
communications" are from a kiddie - or anyone else - that's really bad
- and scary. Has no one explained - to anyone - that a time will come
when a group of "someones" will stop ISIS - or die trying - that this
is real life and not some video/computer game - that you cannot mimic
games in real life without someone getting seriously hurt? As to the
caller that was able to "run wild" - time is running out there, too.
Age and a new generation of those "running wild" are showing the caller
that the lies and made-up stories will not be tolerated. In a twisted
sort of way - through all of the wrong that the "new generation" is
doing - they still request and seek the truth! This is in Darke County.
What will happen on a global scale?
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!!! MONA
