Hi, all!! Do you readers remember the Andy Griffith Show? Do you
remember the episode where the new kid in town was told repeatedly to
stop riding his bike on the sidewalk? Remember Sheriff Andy had had
enough of warning the kid, took the kid and the bike to the Court House
and called the kid's Dad? Remember the Dad being at the Court House and
the kid saying he did not hurt anyone while riding his bike on the
sidewalk? Remember Sheriff Andy saying the kid was too young to lock up
for the crime but he could and would lock up the kid's Dad? Remember
the kid yelling, pounding his fist on the desk screaming, "I want my
bike?"
The point to all of this is: the kid had always gotten his way - using
an "innocent, childlike expression." On that very Andy Griffith episode
- the kid used that same expression and said he did not mean any harm.
It had gotten him out of trouble previously - it should work now. It
was his "belief" - he should be entitled to his belief. In the show,
the Dad puts his foot down, realizing that giving the child everything
he wants - when he wants it - will do the child no good as an adult in
this world - in the long run.
Which brings me to Isis - to the awful murders of some 129 innocent
people who happened to be in Paris - at the wrong time. There were
46,000 Twitter accounts that Isis used in 2014. I googled that. A CIA
spokesman said that intelligence estimates Isis could muster some
31,500 fighters in Syria and Iraq this year. I googled this, too.
Among my many questions is: "What would cause this?" I don't believe
you wake up one day and say, "I want to join a group and go kill people
because they are Christians." I don't believe that's how it ever
starts. I do wonder: "Did this whole Isis thing start with one person
pounding his fist on a desk and screaming, "I want my bike (my
way)?" I don't believe 31,000+ people all decided the same day to
get together with guns, go to Mosul, Iraq, let the prisoners out of the
jail and take all the money from the bank.
And I wonder if this is what happens when the "child bully" is not
stopped at a young age. I realize some kids are brought up this way.
However - Isis has advertised for "Isis brides" and women from the USA
and elsewhere have responded and married militant fighters. Also - this
behavior has been glorified and young men have "joined up" from the USA
and other countries. There has always been strength in numbers and
bullies have always ran together.
The thing here is: I do not hear Isis say they are going to storm
Moscow next...or Havana...or Warsaw. Does Isis realize that those
countries are not going to play games or cower in the face of Isis?
This is some food for thought. Is Isis an example of what happens when
we look the other way or see it's beginnings as "what they believe" and
think it's their right? Is 31,000 fighters in two countries what
happens when this all snowballs out of control and fatally affects
neighboring countries? "Prieres a Paris pour la paix et
l'aides" That is: "Prayers to Paris for peace and help."
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
