50 Shades of
Gray
By Mona Lease
Hi, all!!. It probably started when I was in on the ground floor of
Abortion Accurate Information - now Crisis Pregnancy. Our goal was to
provide as much information as possible - pictures, statistics, health
risks to the Mother following an abortion, etc. The more information
you have - the better your decision is. Somehow it spilled over into my
life and these columns.
No situation or answer is black or white. Do you remember the uproar
about Tiger Mom? She is Chinese. I heard the hype about her "beating"
her baby. I watched a video she evidently posted on the computer. The
baby looked to be two months old. She had the baby lying on some sort
of mattress on the floor. She sat on the floor and pinched his leg,
rolled him on his side, hit his body with a pillow, pinched his arm,
etc. I never saw her do anything that was going to bruise him or break
bones. Later, I watched an interview with her husband. They live in New
York. "We live in a global economy. Anyone around the world can "work"
anywhere around the world via the computer. No job is secure. If you
can't take a few bumps and knocks - if you can't take being
"uncomfortable" - you'll never make it in this life - in this world."
That's the mindset of Tiger Mom and her people - the Chinese. They feel
we here in the USA have it "too soft" and waste time when we could be
learning.
Our President wants to allow Mothers who have children born in the USA
to come here and be "naturalized" citizens. "Every child deserves to
have his Mom" is what he says. When the Mother comes across the border
and is "naturalized" - should she be expected to get a job? Does she
have the right not to get a job? What about the Dad? What if she gets
hired and you don't? I know people who have went to college and had to
work at a chain store. What if you raise your child that you work and
the child does not get the job because the "naturalized" Mother does?
I know people who work for Muslims in this country. You do not go to
work and say you don't feel well, had a fight with your wife, can't pay
your house payment (or whatever bill), etc. They do not want to hear
it. Those are personal problems - to be left at home. You are expected
to smile and do your work - all of it.
In case you missed it - in the Greenville Advocate - Thursday, October
15, 2015 - The Darke County Sheriff, The Greenville Police Chief, The
Arcanum Police Chief, The New Madison Police Chief, The Versailles
Police Chief, and The Union City, Ohio Police Chief signed a collective
open letter to Darke County citizens. This letter has to do with the
November 3rd election and the legalization of marijuana in Ohio. One of
the questions they have is: "Who pays for the treatment when marijuana
users are sick (any smoke inhaled is potentially cancer-causing..my
words here)?
Finally - people have been at odds with the cigarette smoking - where,
the biggest issue. Some people are upset because the driver of the car
beside you has a lit cigarette - both of you have your windows down
enjoying the nice weather. Smoke wafts into the non-smoker's window.
Does the smoker have to roll up is window? He is in his car. These are
not black and white issues. And I just have to state this: Regarding
the woman in Kentucky who would not administer a marriage license to
the gay couple - I heard she made $80,00o a year. Really? At a city
office? (I can't believe that). Was she the only one capable of
administering the license? What did the city do when she was
incarcerated? I never heard any media reports on those questions. Funny
to me how the media only paints one side of the picture and few look at
all sides.
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered one out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
