Darke County Senior Scribe
Poetic gems for
Mother’s Day
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s Mother’s Day. Wilson offers two poems, each addressing a
different approach to the annual event honoring our mothers. Mothers
are priceless, and wives need to understand the importance of The Other
woman. Enjoy.
Wilson's completed set - five volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact

PRICELESS
Statistics show the worth of mothers;
Their mixed skills supplant those of others—
Especially as to the family’s needs.
They do daily multitasking deeds.
Hire replacements for a homemaker
And it becomes a budget breaker.
Their best work may favorably compare
But lacks a mom’s tender loving care.

THE OTHER WOMAN
He fluffs his thinning hair,
A dash of debonair,
And downs a dab of grub—
Says, “I’ll be at my club.”
She follows in her car;
The trip is not too far.
She sees deceptive spouse
Stop at familiar house.
The woman at the door
He hugs and kisses more.
She knows the woman well.
They’ve had a fighting spell.
It hits her like a bomb—
“He’s checking on his Mom!”
