Darke County Senior Scribe
Politics… It’s
Just Getting Started
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s politics. Wilson offers three poems, each addressing a
different approach to this year’s political season. The question in the
minds of many… will we even end up with what we voted for?
Wilson's completed set - five volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact

NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS
When the whole world seems going nuts,
We won’t survive with hoops and putts,
Fundraising or foreign faux pas,
Ignoring of our nation’s laws,
Detachment or vacation cause,
Dead ideas, a wheel in ruts—
We need leaders with zeal and guts!

CLEVELAND/PHILADELPHIA—2016
It may be indiscreet to ask
When the delegates meet to task
Choosing their party’s candidate:
Will the groups have a grand debate?
Will the mass heed the voters’ voice
Or will it need another choice—
Surely done, intentional?
Purely unconventional!

D. vs. R. THE POTUS RACE
For Hillary—
Uphill if free
Or pillory?
With left-standers,
Bernie Sanders—
Nonstop panders.
Will Biden show
To fight the foe
As Kayo Joe?
Strong on the stump,
Can Donald Trump
Stem his vote slump?
Will it be news
The one they choose
Is Trus-Ted Cruz?
The man with stick,
Buckeye Kasich,
Could be the pick.
Freedom’s at stake.
For our land’s sake
It’s make or break.
Names go down; names go up—
Who wins the POTUS cup?
