Sometimes Ya Gotta
By Mona Lease

Hi, all!! I was perusing Facebook. It's been a favorite of mine lately. I've been blessed by the people posting on it. I've seen some groups - I guess they are called - where the cussing, drug/sex posts (talk and photos) is astounding - downright atrocious and stomach-churning...to me, anyway. (I guess there's no FCC anymore!). I found the following. I thought it said so much - to so many - in so few words. I've always believed there's that part of ourselves that we need to keep separate from all else so that we can keep "ministering" to our kiddies, our neighbors, our friends, our family, etc. Consider this:

Every Woman Should Have

Enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to.

Something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her dreams wants to "see her in an hour."

A youth she's content to leave behind...a past that she's looking forward to retelling in her Old Age.

A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.

One friend who always makes her laugh and always lets her cry.

A good piece of furniture that was not previously owned by anyone else in her family.

Eight matching plates and wine glasses with stems.

A recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored.

A feeling of control over her destiny.

Every Woman Should Know

How to fall in love without losing herself.

How to quit a job.

How to break up with a lover.

How to confront a friend without ruining the friendship.

When to try harder.

When to walk away.

That she can't change the length of her calves or the width of her hips.

She can't change the nature of her parents or

That her childhood may have been less than perfect.

What she would and would not do for love.

How to live alone, even if she does not like it.

Where to go - be it her best friend's kitchen table or an inn in the woods, when her soul needs soothing.

What she can and can not accomplish in a day - in a week - in a month - in a year.     Pamela Redmond Satran

And from Johnny Depp

"Take a deep breath. It's only a bad day, not a bad life."

I thought the above appropriate as we start a new year with 360 empty "slates" upon which to write - as I pen this.

Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
