Darke County Senior Scribe
It’s the season
for… politickin’
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s politickin’. Wilson offers three poems, each addressing
a different look at the upcoming election season… well… phase three of
the upcoming election season. No predictions; simply a reminder about
Control Speak, the desire to be Caught in the Current, and then, of
course a Quote from a Missing Link.
Wilson's completed set - five volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact

CONTROL SPEAK
For many a politician,
Misdirection is their mission.
If they don't like the question posed,
They ignore it; the subject's closed.
The moderators lose their role
As bold candidates seize control.
They're like a cancer;
They ask and answer.
This example
Is a sample:
"If you query me.
What will my plan be?
I am proud to say;
It will save the day!"
Good-bye to interviews.
Good-bye, interaction.
Hello to monoviews.
Hello, mass distraction!

CAUGHT IN THE CURRENT
Said the jellyfish
To the yellowfin,
“Tuna, what I wish
Is a stinging win
In this election—
A wild ride on the wave.”
The tuna replied,
“Your foes think you’re fine;
You don’t fight the tide.
They see you’ve no spine.
You’re their selection
For they‘re sure that you’ll cave!”

QUOTE FROM A MISSING LUNK
“Some politicians sure get my goat.
Their policies are sinking the boat.
I
guess that all agree
Nobody can fault me.
I can’t be blamed ‘cause I never vote!”
