Have/Have Not
By Mona Lease
Hi, all!! I'm just submitting this for you readers to leisurely peruse
- think on a spell. People who retired from Fram - or Allied Signal -
or Honeywell.....have received a letter advising them that they will no
longer have their retirement insurance as of January 1 of 2017. Digest
the above a tad.
In world history - follow me here - the USSR signed documents under the
Hague Convention. After some time - the USSR became Russia. When
questioned about the earlier signed documents, Russia said they did not
sign anything - that was the USSR's doing - go talk to them. However,
"they" no longer exist. Actually - the Hague Convention does not exist
- it's the Geneva Convention. Give that a think. Russia has signed
Article 3 (which is the third meeting of the "conventions") of the
Geneva Convention but has not ratified it. Article 3, by the way, is
how people are treated in a "non-international war" character...sick,
unarmed, those that lay down their arms, wounded, etc. Ratify means to
include or incorporate an agreement, into which you have entered, into
the set of laws by which you live and/or conduct business....which
Russia has not done.
I spoke with a woman who retired from Allied Signal. She reports that
after having spoken with her retirement insurance, she was told that
she has Affordable Health Care so...kind of a "sorry 'bout your luck"
situation. It is possible that the Australian gentleman who owns
our "Fram" will play the same card Russia played. (Is Affordable Care
Insurance the Government's insurance???)
I knew a person some 35 years ago now who had retirement insurance and
bought more insurance. He would have minor surgery and bill both
insurance companies. The retirement insurance paid 100 percent and he
pocketed the other insurance check. That's not so now - the insurance
companies talk to each other, argue and some of us are still left with
25-30% of the bill to pay. There is nothing "free" in today's world.
"Free" means someone paid for it before you got it. Remember this when
you hear our Presidential Hopefuls talking about free college and free
this or that. The perfect example of this is Speedway Gas Station and
their "Speedy Rewards." Watch the price of gas go up on Thursday and
fall on Sunday. See - you're actually buying those "Speedy Rewards!"
I'm saying this stuff because nothing is guaranteed except death. I
believe we need to be prepared for this "distasteful" stuff. I believe
we are all we've got. The money will not hold our hand when we are
sick, in trouble, or looking to lose a loved one. Is life all bad?
Absolutely not!! Babies are still being born and Grandparents to spoil
them. I still have you readers and you still have me. We don't need a
college education to know that we'll be ok - if we just stick together!!
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
